#30 Kid 606
Ever find yourself buried under a dance floor in a K hole? Ever have a death metal band stuck in your head doing Depeche Mode songs in half time? Miguel Depedro has, or he must have had. Miguel Trost Depedro, aka Kid606, is the king of industrial meets spine spattering breakcore/ noisecore; the break bastard child of Front 424 and Napalm Death - the former being one of his favorite bands.
According to his wiki page he's "one of the few producers today who can successfully tackle nearly every electronic genre (mash-up, ambient, jungle, dub, hardcore techno, glitch, acid, house, gabba, noise, etc.)." To which Terbo Ted added: "detroit techno, some hip hop, crazy hardcore, video game sounds, drum breaks galore, snippets of mcs, more kick drums than you can shake your hips at." No doubt, he's covered most of that ground at one point or another on his eleven plus albums (even he may not know how many albums he has now).
In recent years - following his proclamation piece Done with the Scene - Miguel has taken a somewhat calmer, even melodic approach to his noises. It's become less about fitting every last sample on his laptop into the mix, more about the creating a feel for each individual song.
In addition to doing his Kid606 DJ gig, Miguel also runs the ground breaking electronic label TigerBeat6. They've released some of our fave music from such luminaries as DJ/Rupture, Cex, Electric Company and Quintron and Miss Pussycat.
