#72 Liars - Drum's Not DeadLiars as an artist, came in at #84 on our Top 100 Artists of the decade list, but the originality of 2006's Drum's Not Dead, which surpasses the originality of many other albums this decade, even manages to supersede the band itself. Liars is a band that re-invents itself with each new release while maintaining its artistic integrity. This is one of the main reasons for its insertion into the Top 100 Artists list. But, the beauty and chaos that blends so perfectly on Drum's Not Dead is the overarching explanation for their greatness. It is as erratic as London weather. It is as emotionally fluctuating as a near-death experience - a clash of fear, sorrow, relief, and joy. "Let's Not Wrestle Mt. Heart Attack" roars like thunder, "A Visit From Drum" haunts like cemetary fog, "Drum and The Uncomfortable Can" creeps in like an ambush and "The Other Side of Mt. Heart Attack" brings peace like a rainbow after a storm. It is a complex record, but one that can fully encapsulate your mind, despite it's experimental leanings.
