Song of the Day 7/29/08: Lykke Li - I'm Good I'm Gone Remixes
We double up on Lykke Li remixes for our song of the day feature today - two takes on "I'm Good, I'm Gone."
Metronomy approaches the track with a kind of overeager, timeless enthusiasm. The opening bursts of noise sound like a descrambled reincarnation of the telephone that rings throughout Pink Floyd's The Wall - appropriate considering her line, "you'll be calling but I won't be at the phone." In this mix, Li is eerily cold and distant between the pressure of a terse drumline and cosmic synthesizers. The Black kids take the same track, throw in a warm bassline and some bright electric guitar, and voila! - she turns from a cold vixen into a playful temptress. A little upswing on the acoustic guitar after the same line, and you've got a singer flaunting her sexual control with a little bit of a smirk. Grab these two tracks, and as a bonus, check the Take Away Show featuring Lykke Li paired up with El Perro Del Mar.
