Song of the Day 4/23/08: James Pants - We're Through
James Pants is a little bit weird - "We're Through" sort of blurs the line between parody and tribute. It kind of recalls a 90s slow-jam band composed of members who couldn't let go of the 70s funk movement. It's got weird cowbells and underproduced vocals - that "social outcast in their basement" production aesthetic - but the upshot is he's damn cool when you get to know him. This track is a weird, timeless trip.
