Song of the Day 4/21/08: Dosh - If You Want To, You Have To

This isn't a quiet track by any means - it offers its own peculiar definition of noise and movement - but there's something brilliant in the way every instrument sounds like it's trying to hush itself under the rest. Dosh spends a fair amount of time on tour with Andrew Bird, and it's clear that Bird's sideways composition has an influence on him - glass bells and grand pianos skitter over the drums and fuzzy organs. There are dozens of instruments with no clear leader, making this a sort of extravagant parade of noise.
