Song of the Day 4/17/08: No Age - Eraser
It takes a pretty weird ear to embrace dissonance in the context of upbeat music (consider your first interaction with Deerhoof), but when an act staggers into the distortion-pop genre from just the right angle, you can expect some pretty magical results. Maybe No Age gets away with it because they refuse to define the parent aesthetic - is "Eraser" a pop song with a noisy backdrop, or a punk bender that leaves room between the chords for some jangly guitar and tambourine? We've got our eyes set on their next album, Nouns, due out May 6th on Sub Pop.
