Malkovich: In The Dark

Confession, or credibility (in your own eyes), or - God help us: "Keepin' It Real" - that's the main theme of Malkovich's In The Dark, a sinister self-investigation into how swiftly this mofo, in a tight situation, will wipe the floor with that ass. It's got the sound of unlit hallways, and half-lit streets, where your manhood could be tested - even by your friends - when some, half-assed, deal goes down ("I said, 'I'll see what I can do' - that ain't no guarantee!") and, you know, just about anything can happen.

Like Brand Nubian's Down For The Real, this is a gut-check song, making you feel the tension of the unknown, from the trippy opening sample, with it's rising and falling piano lead ("I used to ramble through the park, shadow boxing in the dark") right up to it's, over-the-top, death-by-syringe conclusion. Our conclusion:

This is the ONLY place you want to mess with him. Check it out,
