Lou Barlow: Home

In his new song, "HOME", Lou Barlow (Sebadoh + Folk Implosion) builds a sweet melancholy melody over a murky, gurgling, bubbling, rhythm of drum loops. At times the mood is closely threatened by synthesized strings, but they fail in their attempt (thanks to Barlow's good taste, no doubt), tempered by the vocal and a strummed acoustic guitar - grounding the song within the heartfelt sadness of the lyric. An interesting mix of lo-fi aesthetics and hi-fi sonics, or '70's radio ballads and '00's computer wizardry. A cross of a streamlined, laidback Wrens and a more digital, a more upbeat, John Vanderslice.

A quiet, beautiful moment amongst the indie rock noise.
