Head of Femur: Acme: The Summit of a Mountain
"Acme: The Summit of a Mountain"
This song reminds me of being a kid, but then so do a lot of things: cookies, kites, yo-yos, popsicles, my brothers, my sister, Mom and Dad, throwing up without any foreshadowing or forewarning - well, that also reminds me of drinking too much, way too much, too fast.In Head of Femur's song, 'Acme: The Summit Of A Mountain', they sing of church school, tech school, summer camp - all things that remind me of being a kid - although i can hardly remember going to church school or summer camp and I never went to tech school. Still this song makes me feel like a kid again and it sounds like something kids would make up on a bus trip.
Harking back to my mention of 'drinking too much, too fast', this tune is nearly too much, too fast - like a bus of kids hurtling down a steep slope and the lot of 'em singing the chorus 'til they're spit cotton. Similar to Cass McCombs on his song 'Bobby, King of Boys Town', except this is what the kids sound like on the bus after a long daytrip, crashing hard from their sugar high.
