Ted Leo: Me and Mia
"Me and Mia"
God, how I envy you... if you haven't heard Ted Leo before. Just the idea of discovering for the first time, this great a talent, a man who puts so much of himself into writing and performing his music. 'Ted who?' did you say? Imagine the bitter snarl of a young Elvis... Costello. The manic energy of Pete Townsend... when he had hair! Alright, alright, these are old gents I am referencing. Umm... o.k., take Spoon and give them a new frontman, one whose voice rings clear and strong... now ask the band to kick it up a notch or two - to try (I said try) to be The Ramones. The white Ramones (I know, The Ramones are white).
All you have to do is sit back and bask in the power of pop. In the glory of Leo's first single, 'Me and Mia', off the new album, 'Shake The Sheets'. Just wait until the band kicks in with the cymbals crashing and guitars slashing and try to deny the feeling - the feeling that something is catching... and it is - Ted Leo fever.
Relax, it's only three and a half minutes, but you can always play it again.
