Bio302 Acid is a trio of artists from Washington, DC who combine elements of computer technology with live instrumentation. Improvisation plays an integral role in the way they approach both composition and live performance. The result is a heavily-layered sound that draws inluence from dub, ambient and IDM. Members include (but are not limited to) Douglas Kallmeyer, Andrew Reichel, and Justin Mader. The new LP, Even Calls, will be available in May 2005 on Em:t Records. The EP, Ailanthus Altissima (tree of heaven), is available on Hackshop Records and distributed by Dischord Records. 302 Acid have had the privilege of performing alongside many talented artists, such as: Tackhead, Trans Am, Melt Banana, Killing Joke, Thievery Corporation, Sneaker Pimps, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, Basehead, Mr. Lif, and Tone. While venues have included the Kennedy Center, 9:30 Club and Black Cat in Washington, D.C., many performances have taken place in art galleries and in support of art exhibits including Illegal Art and Art-O-Matic.
