BioThere are a few things you need to understand about Robert Schneider, front man of The Apples in Stereo and the solo force behind Marbles. He’s sweeter than a beehive. He’s got a smile like a supernova. And that beaming visage houses one of the most brilliantly hyperactive minds our species has ever been blessed (or cursed) with. Seriously, he could have become a mad scientist and destroyed us all. Rather than doomsday devices, though, he concocts pop songs… scores of them. So many, in fact, that one project alone can’t contain them. Hence, Marbles.
Marbles began as a solo project in 1992, a few months before Robert started The Apples. Inspired by a newly-acquired four-track and the celestial sounds of Pet Sounds-era Beach Boys, the recordings didn’t see the light of day until the release of Pyramid Landing and Other Favorites in 1997. By then, The Apples were well on their way to becoming one of the most beloved and influential indie-rock bands of the ‘90s.
