Clem Snide

Clem Snide came into being in 1991, taking their distinctive name from a character in the distinctive William S. Burroughs novel, the classic Naked Lunch. Formed by Israeli born Eef Barzelay to perform his punky/jazzy early attempts at songwriting, the band would exist and evolve for 7 years before it released it's debut, You Were a Diamond, in 1998 on indie imprint Tractor Beam. Slowly and softly mutating from Snide observers to Clem purveyors, the band has found a niche in country-inflected melancholia... a niche best visited on their latest disc, 2005's, End Of Love, released on indie success story, Merge Records.
