BioKool Keith and Kutmasta Kurt are hip-hop heroes, with an accomplished history of wildly inventive and influential projects. Keith rose to notoriety back in 1986 with New York's Ultramagnetic MCs, who later disbanded in 1993. Kurt and Keith met in 1992, and both moved to LA two years later to record music together. They've been on a tear over the last decade, putting out classic record after classic record, with a series of comical and conceptual alter egos, including Dr. Dooom, Dr. Octagon, Dr. Octagonecologyst (with Dan the Automator and DJ Q Bert), Sex Style, Black Elvis and more. The two have been known to fight like brothers, but a strong professional and artistic bond keeps them creatively functional, and the hip-hop world is better off for it.
Kutmasta Kurt, on his own, is a highly revered West Coast hip-hop producer. He's produced, collaborated or remixed tracks for Motion Man, Dilated Peoples, the Beastie Boys, Mos Def, Blackalicious, Luscious Jackson and many more.
