Bio

Hunx & His Punx was born in 2007 in the lonely deserts of Tucson, AZ when Seth Bogart (AKA Hunx) and a mysterious, unidentified man otherwise known as “Nobunny” collaborated on some songs together. Nobunny was working on music that he wanted some high school girls to sing but Hunx got jealous and said he had a girlier voice. The two were dating at the time and so much in love.

Without ever performing live, they recorded three singles in a couple of days and released them on Rob’s House, Bubbledumb and Bachelor records in 2008. Then Nobunny broke Hunx’s heart. A sad, depressed Hunx had no other choice but to move back to California, where he lived when he used to be in a band called Gravy Train!!!! He then recruited a live band and recorded a couple more singles - for Shattered Records and True Panther Sounds. All of these sold out in lightning speed and True Panther ended up compiling them on an album titled Gay Singles in 2009. The band then hit the road on national outings with Harlem, Nobunny, Jay Reatard, and Girls.

Early this year, Hunx had the brilliant idea to recruit an all-girl all-star line up band, also known as the Punkettes. They started writing new songs together and jetted off to Europe for a 6-week tour. When they returned, they finished writing the songs for the follow-up to Gay Singles and first proper studio record at NY Hed studios in New York. Hardly Art will release the to-be-titled LP in the spring of 2011, to coincide with a world tour.

With an exuberant delivery style and distinctly nasal croon, Hunx & His Punx delves into a world of bubblegum pop, while filtering it all through a lens of tongue-in-cheek, campy punk. For their new album they drew inspiration from The Ronettes, Dion and the Belmonts, Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers, Freddie Mercury, The Cookies, Irma Thomas, The Dixie Cups, Red Cross, The Beach Boys, The Turtles, and duh, the Ramones.

The current lineup of Hunx & His Punx is: Seth Bogart, Shannon Shaw (also of Shannon and the Clams), Amy Blaustein (also of Sam Flax and Higher Color), Erin Emslie (formerly of the Time Flys), and Michelle Santamaria (formerly of Loli and the Chones and The Pinkz). The group will perform their last show for the year at the Hardly Art showcase at Shea Stadium in Brooklyn on 10/21.
