2004 saw the release of their self-titled debut CD. The album provides an oscillating, intricate soundtrack of murky beats, somber strings, wary synths and haunting vocals.
"We don't know what we're doing, in general", says the band. "If you asked us to explain how we did it, or re-create anything, we couldn't. Everything on the album was like being visited by hungry ghosts."
For the album cover, Teargas & Plateglass selected art by legendary photo-essayist Sebastiao Salgado, famed for his stark black and white, humanistic imagery. Included on the album are songs with Lil Gong, as well as previously unavailable collaborations with Natacha Atlas, Oba Funke and Zap Mama.
