Near the end of 2003, with little warning, We Ragazzi moved to NYC (or just stayed there after CMJ, perhaps in response to losing their apartments and their rehearsal space). Having few friends in NYC, and even fewer jobs, the group was able to find the time to write and record a new record. “Wolves With Pretty Lips,” (2004, Suicide Squeeze) was made in less than 3 months.
Recorded, mixed and mastered in 8 days by John Congleton (paperchase, 90 Day Men, Explosions In The Sky), “Wolves With Pretty Lips” represents the first time the group had worked with a dedicated producer. John Congleton sought to work with We Ragazzi after the group performed with Congleton’s band, paperchase, in 2003. His presence and commitment to the songs can be felt in the inventive arrangements and preciously spare presentations of them.
